Another strong offensive day with 10+ hits couldn’t help Sidwell avoid a pesky Potomac big inning on a recent trip across Chain Bridge to face the host Panthers on an unseasonably warm late-April afternoon.

Spoiling a great day at the plate, featuring hits from nearly every position, the Quakers defense found themselves out of a position on a couple well placed singles late in the game, relinquishing seven runs during the last Panther at-bat and letting the air out of an otherwise well-played game. Despite the setback in the sixth, to start the seventh, Sidwell just as quickly put up a handful of runs on five consecutive hits. The Quakers fought to put the tying run on base, but ultimately fell short by a respectable score of 8 to 10.

Leading the charge on offense with multiple hits were Jake Levine, Johnny Klug, Cody Encarnacion, and Tanner Drant, with first baseman Leo Herman also reaching base twice on the day via a well-earned hit and a hit-by-pitch. On defense, Encarnacion finished a strong season on the mound in his last start, stuffing a potent Panther lineup in his backpack, striking out nine.

The Quakers will meet for one last practice before hosting Flint Hill for the last game on Thursday.
