Sidwell fell into a big hole after a nine-run top of the first for Haverford. Nothing was going well, and the half inning included a number of hits and walks -- as well as errors and a fairly clear missed call at first which extended the tough inning even further.
After the first inning, Sidwell played the game more evenly and scored 6 against a Haverford tally of 8 over the rest of the game. A number of missed opportunities on defense proved costly, and the Quakers couldn't string enough hits together to sustain the sort of rallies necessary to mount a credible comeback.
