The Skinny: Some rough luck overall for the Quakers made for a more lopsided score than the talent levels would indicate.
Synopsis: After taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with a pair of doubles by Sophomore David Steinbach and Junior Sam Stevens, the Quakers were unable to muster any more runs despite getting runners on base in nearly every inning. Flint Hill's pitching and defense was impressive, including 3 diving catches by the center fielder to take away seemingly sure Sidwell hits that would have directly resulted in runs. In addition, Flint Hill surrendered no walks the entire game, making it even more difficult for Sidwell to mount rallies.
Analysis: Junior Mark Ossolinski pitched a tenacious 5 innings for the Quakers. His 6:2 K:BB ratio is more indicative of the quality of his outing than the 7 runs Flint Hill pieced together against him. Sidwell's defense was greatly improved, and did not commit a single error. Flint Hill's hitting was timely, as shown by their 9 runs on only 8 hits and 5 walks.
Looking Ahead: Though a valiant effort, the Quakers will need to string together a few more hits in order to defeat the Huskies in their next matchup at home on April 27th.
