The Sidwell JV team ended a fine 2022 campaign with a win against Wilson's Gray squad on a Thursday that saw its mix of sun, clouds, and surprising rain. The Quakers would jump out to a commanding 7-0 lead, scoring in each of the first five innings, before relinquishing a few unearned runs in the later innings to hold on by a score of 7-4.
Leading contributors of the day included Tanner Breslin, needing only 51 pitches through five innings of relatively good and nearly error free defense, which included two double plays (6-3-1 and 6-4-3), as well as an outfield assist 9-6, to excite the home crowd in the last game of the year. Offensive tips of the cap to Lee Gillies and Robby Schooling, notching extra base hits in an "entertaining" game, as deemed by the umpire, that saw its share of ups and few downs.
In the end, it was Aidan Breslin finishing the game and the season on the mound with a called third strike, sending the JV team into the summer. Thanks to all the parents that helped to make this team fun and competitive, and good luck to the players in finishing up the school year.
