Sidwell, playing as visitor, scored in the top of the first to set a good tone for the game. The Quakers found a comfortable groove with Andrew Ludwin dealing for the first three innings while the Quakers amassed a 5-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, however, the wheels fell off, with GDS scoring nine times off two walks, six hits, and a pair of errors.

Staring a big deficit in the face, Sidwell struck back in the very next frame, evening the score at 9-9 when Matt Harden hit his second home run of the day, this one to deep center field.

In the bottom of the fifth, reliever Ethan Yu found a good rhythm after having experienced some adversity when he relieved Ludwin in the 4th. His shut-down inning was immediately followed by a Quaker reclamation of the lead in the sixth after John McMurray led off with a single, Zach Gayer reached on an error, and Will Koopersmith drove in McMurray and Gayer on his third run-scoring hit of the day.

There was drama in the bottom of the 7th: Sidwell held a one run lead; Yu hit the first batter; and the second batter doubled to the right field wall, leaving runners on second and third with no outs. Yu locked in and induced three consecutive ground balls, with Eric Sun (playing short for Harden) calmly looking the runner on third back before firing to first for the first and second outs of the inning. Finally, Mikey Levy made a confident play at second to retire the final batter of the game 4-3.

It was a gritty and fun win for the Quakers, on a day when the bats finally came alive -- and good thing given that each of the 11 runs were necessary for the W.
