The Skinny: Sidwell took an early lead and never looked back, winning by 10-run rule after 6 innings, 12-2.

Synopsis: After Wes Roman shut down the Hoppers' offense in the top of the 1st, Sidwell struck first with a 2-run homerun by senior captain Sam Stevens. The Quaker offense managed 6 runs in the first 3 innings, but was relatively quiet in the 4th and 5th. But in the bottom of the 6th with a 6-2 lead, Sidwell exploded to score 6 runs while only recording 1 out, ending the game early due to 10-run rule. Sidwell's 6-run rally was highlighted by a massive 2-run homerun over the left field fence from junior SS David Steinbach.

Sidwell's pitching was solid throughout, as senior Wes Roman and junior Peter Bell each allowed only 1 run.

Analysis: Sidwell was clearly the better team in this contest. The Quakers made fewer errors, struck out only once offensively, and put up 4 extra base hits, including 2 homeruns. While the game at times felt frustrating offensively for Sidwell, it managed 12 runs while being given only 2 errors and 5 walks, a good offensive showing in 5.1 offensive innings. Sidwell also came alive on the basepaths in this game, swiping 12 bases, the most in a game this season. These extra bases allowed the Quakers' 10 hits to drive in runs more easily, as Sidwell left only 5 men on base, including 2 in the last inning, which was not completed due to 10-run rule. This type of offensive efficiency has been missing in past games for Sidwell, including their lone conference loss to Flint Hill this past Friday.

Looking ahead: Sidwell has a big conference showdown with Potomac at home this Saturday. Sidwell beat Potomac handily in their conference opener, but the Panthers have since beaten Flint Hill, Sidwell's only conference loss, 7-1. Sidwell then has another huge game, this one against the 2nd place Maret Frogs at home on Tuesday, April 26. Sidwell's next contest with GDS does not come until their final game of the season on May 12th, another home game.
