The School Without Walls snapped the Quakers' four-game win streak on a cloudy and cool Friday afternoon. Sidwell dropped their first game in nearly a month and split the season series, having defeated this same Walls team last Saturday by the same one-run margin.
Offensive power for the day was provided by starting catcher Tanner Breslin, belting his first home run of his high school career over the new fence and halfway up the visitor’s batting tunnel in left field. From there, the Quaker offense clawed back from down 6-2 to come within one run of the Penguins but couldn’t plate the equalizer with runners on base in either the 6th or the 7th.
On the defense side, starter Cody Encarnacion and reliever Daniel Piho would pair up to do their best in limiting timely hits from Walls, but the Penguins bats, using two Sidwell errors along with nine hits, would tilt the field just enough to leave with a 6-5 win.
The Quakers look to fire up a new streak on Tuesday at home against Maret.
