The Quakers ended what most would consider a fine 2021 campaign by dropping the rubber match in the Wilson series by a score of 2-1 to finish the season with 10 wins and 6 losses. With Jackson Fauvre and Andrew Ludwin splitting six innings of two-hit ball, Sidwell was able to match some quality pitching by the Tiger starter, who was able to work ahead in counts and issue only walk as compared with Sidwell's six.
Baserunners made all the difference, as the visiting Quakers struggled early to get guys on and move them around with balls in play. The Quaker defense, especially the hardworking outfield of Jake Kang (LF), Mikey Levy/Jackson Keyser (CF), and Aiden Breslin (RF), played a near-perfect game, but it wasn’t enough. As in just about every contest this season, the game came down to the last few innings, and after pinch hitter Easy Weissman started the 7th with a single, followed by another off the bat of Kang, making his return off the injured list in a big way with a multi-hit game, the Quaker season ended with the tying run on first.
All was anything but lost, however, as the young Quaker team showed great promise for future successes. An off season with continued commitment should prove for great games for many at the varsity level next spring. In closing, the coaches would like to thank the families for all the effort in gearing up the guys and getting them ready to practice and play nearly every day.
