Charles Dickens opens A Tale of Two Cities with "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair," and these sentiments capture today's game.

Today's pitching was solid, and the hitting was productive. The defense was porous (except when it wasn't) and the baserunning was poor. The Quakers gave up 14 unearned runs, including 10 in the final inning alone. And, oddly, this defensive effort was in the same game that saw two outfield assists at home (Caleb Anderson -> Mihir Patel -> Joey Doyle on an attempted sac fly in the first; Aaron Wheeler -> Will Phillips -> Doyle to rob a Wilson player of a homerun on a shot hit to left center in the second), and a diving play by Lance Duncan in the four hole. Also, Alexi Weinberg picked a runner off of second with an inside move, but the runner was able to advance to third on an ensuing error -- on a play that embodied the game.
