Sidwell's second game of the year against Potomac was played on a beautiful Saturday morning, the hottest day of the year so far -- at 90 degrees. Sidwell relied on disciplined hitting, putting lots of balls on the ground and forcing the Panthers to make plays. The heat had dried out the ground, which had been wet due to rain for some time, leaving a number of bumps. Balls skipped through the infield throughout the game, causing trouble for both the Sidwell and Potomac infielders.

On offense Sidwell got going early, fueled by Nick Roman's bases clearing triple in the top of the first. Roman had a terrific first inning on defense also, with a terrific basket catch in shallow right to record the Quakers' first out of the game. The Panthers tried to fight back throughout the game and sent a number of hard-hit balls to the outfield. Fortunately, Brett Perrin made some unbelievable running catches in center field to turn would-be doubles and triples into long outs.

Down one in the top of the sixth, Peter Bell lead off by reaching on an error. He moved over to third on a base hit bunt by Brett Perrin. Two outs later, Nick Roman just beat out a ground ball to the shortstop, keeping the inning alive and batting-in the tying run.

With two outs in the top of the seventh, Lukas Williams got things going with a base hit to right field. A stolen base later, Williams was on second base with Peter Bell at the plate. After fouling-off several pitches with two strikes, Bell put a ball on the ground to shortstop with Williams moving on contact. Williams never slowed down at third and scored when the Panther shortstop was unable to field the ball cleanly.

David Steinbach earned the win for Sidwell. He relieved Bell as pitcher in the top of the 4th. After giving up a few hits in the 4th and the 5th, Steinbach settled down and retired the final six Panther batters in order, including a beautiful strikeout on a 1-2 pitch to record the second out of the final inning.

All things considered, it was a solid game by the Quakers with many contributions from many different players.
